Mar 13 Georges de La Tour a French Baroque painter, who spent most of his working life in the Duchy of Lorraine, which was temporarily absorbed into France between 1641 and 1648. He painted mostly religious chiaroscuro scenes lit by candlelight
Mar 25 Jean de Brébeuf a French Jesuit missionary who travelled to New France in 1625. There he worked primarily with the Huron for the rest of his life, except for a time back in France from 1629 to 1633. He learned their language and culture
